Has anyone studied abroad with USAC before? I’m going to Puntarenas, Costa Rica for a year. Any pointers?
I am going to Puntarenas, Costa Rica for the 2009-2010 school year with USAC. Is anyone familiar with USAC? Or Puntarenas? Any pointers or suggestions? Thank you!
Not familiar with USAC but do know Puntarenas town. It is very hot and humid most of the year. They are working on improving the beaches. It has one of the largest Chinese populations in Costa Rica and is a tuna processing/fishing town. The advantage of being there is that there are relatively few English speakers; so it is a good spot to learn Spanish. Except when a cruise ship lands there are relatively few tourists (those that are there are probably waiting for the ferry). I think the University of Costa Rica’s marine biology program is located there.
